Work at Home Mom Is NOT Equal to SuperMom

It seems like people are constantly telling me, “I don`t know how you do it. I couldn`t work at home and blog and watch 2 small children.” “You must be a supermom!”

Well, I`m not. I`m not a supermom. I don`t think there are many of them out there, actually. Work at home moms are tired moms, moms who leave the dishes undone, who maybe take a nap on the couch on those rare occasions when both baby and toddler are asleep at the same time and moms that rush through bedtime stories, skipping pages because they have a deadline to meet.

Work at home moms are women who probably ignore their husbands a little too much, work too late, drink too much coffee/Pepsi/insert-your-vice-here and don`t take time for themselves. They are women who might look all together on the outside, just don`t peek under the bed or in the closet.

A mom who works at home is driven, passionate about her business AND watching her children grow first hand. Often she is working because she has to . . . whether for the money or because she just wouldn`t be a good mom if she didn`t have something to do besides change diapers and calm tantrums. She is someone who finds herself questioning why she works at home sometimes, but repents the next time her child gives her a spontaneous kiss, a handpicked flower or a scribbled drawing of shoes while she`s on the computer. She is a woman who struggles to balance it all and fails, but enjoys life anyway.

Work at home moms aren`t supermoms . . . they`re just moms. Doing the best they can, enjoying their kids, doing what they love and earning some money.
