Who is on Your Team?

I´ve been doing this 30 Day Challenge, which is aimed at helping you earn your first $10 online in just one month. At the beginning of the challenge, we had to form teams, most of us with complete strangers. It was a little like high school all over again.

There are ten people on my team and I only personally know one (my sister). However, over the past 15 days, we have all gotten to know each other, through Facebook, email and chatting. The original plan was to have teammates who could help promote your Challenge website or blog, but it has turned into something far more valuable.

See, when you throw 10 people together like this, you end up with a wide range of abilities and experience. Some of us are writers, some are very good on the technical side  of things. Everyone is pulling together and helping each other out, each offering our own personal specialty to the group and instead of just focusing on the Challenge, we are expanding into our every day lives!

The point is this, having a team makes everything run smoother. You can do your own thing and still be part of a team. How do you do this when you aren´t part of the 30 Day Challenge? It´s easy. Head over to your favorite business-related forum (if you don´t know of any, type in your business and “forum” in Google, i.e. “candlemaking forum”) and start cultivating friendships with some of the people you find there.

Create a group on Facebook where you can invite your new “teammates” and start holding one another accountable. It really is useful to know that five or six other people out there are counting on you to do what you said you´d do! And if you get stuck in something, you can ask your teammates for advice.

There´s no reason you can´t have your own support team without working on one main project. And perhaps you´ll even develop a project out of the whole thing, who knows? What I do know is that having my team for the 30 Day Challenge has helped me become a better blogger (these guys are actually reading my blog!) and a more focused business person. If I miss a step, they remind me where I need to be and that is something that every single work at home mom can use.
