If you are comfortable typing and working on your computer, data entry jobs can sound awfully appealing! However, it is one of the areas most likely to scam you! Work from home data entry positions might sound appealing, but you really have to look out for tricks.
When you find a data entry job listing, check to see if you are required to pay anything. If the company wants you to pay a fee in order to join, forget it. They are most likely going to take your money and run. However, there are legitimate jobs to be found, both online and off.
Offline jobs are best searched for on your own. Instead of replying to the ads in the local paper that offer hundreds or thousands of dollars a day just by entering names into a form, go out and solicit work. You can do this by advertising your services on bulletin boards and in the paper, or go door-to-door. This requires offering your services as a data entry typist to businesses that would most likely need this service.
Look in the Yellow Pages in your area to find potential clients, then call them up or go to the business to drop off your card and explain your services. Have a price list handy as well. You can check online to find out the going rates for data entry jobs.
For online work, you will want to sign up only with companies that have a good reputation. Your best bet is to look for job boards that bring together trustworthy companies. Medical Transcription: Here you will find a number of articles on getting started in this specialized field of data entry, as well as some job leads.
Get a Freelancer: This site offers free sign up and then you can bid on projects. They have more than just data entry jobs, including graphic art, writing, etc. It can be heavy competition, but if you get a decent job out of it, well worth the hassle.
