Well you could certainly get a real assistant, but it's going to cost you a lot more! :) Plus, I`m pretty sure they don't allow kicking.

Virtual assistants are OK as far as it goes . . . they certainly are cheaper than hiring someone full time.

But whose ass do you kick when something goes wrong?

I find myself left there with the phone in one hand, and my footing kicking the air on the other . . . sometimes I just think I should get a puppy or something.

And Virtual Assistants can't get coffe either . . .

You´re quite right, Kathie, I came across VAs all over the world in my search. And I do agree that more experience is worth more, but in my case, I can´t afford to pay more than I actually earn per hour!

You know outsourcing doesn't just mean to India or China. There are heaps of other countries that have VAs too. Australia, New Zealand, UK, France, Germany, Hungary, South Africa... shall I go on? I can't help wondering if people think that VAs only exist in 4 countries?

Cost of living does come into it a lot with respect to how much a VA charges, but don't forget that experience has a lot going for it too. Someone who is very experienced and charges higher may well get through your workload in very minimal time, whereas someone who charges lower can often have less experience and work slower. Sometimes the end sum can work out to be very similar.
