Staying Productive During the Holiday Season

There´s so much to do this time of year that it is very tempting to just forget about your business and hang out with your kids, decorating the house and baking Christmas cookies. Unfortunately, that´s not usually very good for your home business!

Staying productive during the holiday season can be a bit of a challenge, but you can still manage. Here are a few tips.

  • Schedule a specific time to work each day, even if it is just an hour or two. Make sure people know that you can´t be disturbed, shut your office door and turn off your phone. Make that short time as productive as possible.
  • Instead of trying to do everything at once, schedule your decorating over a week or more. Tree up one day, window dressings the next, etc. This makes it a bit more manageable.
  • Say no to some things. You don´t have to attend every single Christmas party, so if you need to work or just don´t want to go, turn the invitation down nicely.
  • Eliminate unnecessary steps. Instead of doing little extras for your home business, like designing new business cards or setting up a new blog, leave these until Jan. when things slow down. Stick to the essentials for the holiday season.
  • Shop online. It´s fast and easy and there are no crowds to beat. You can do it from home, so that means you can spend time you would have been stuck in traffic working instead.
