Should You Sell for a Company?
There are zillions of programs out there designed to build armies of salespeople, usually work at home moms, who will tirelessly sell their products. While Creative Memories, Avon, Tupperware and many more like them have become famous as at home work solutions, how good are they?
I have personally tried a variety of these sales programs and have come to the conclusion that they are not for me. It isn´t that they don´t work, there are plenty of people who do very well with them. No, I´m just not the salesperson type. I´m not good at pushing people to close the deal, I hate follow-up phone calls and even delivering the product makes me nervous!
So, before you leap into a new business opportunity, here are a few things you should ask yourself:
About You
Am I comfortable with selling?
Will I be aggressive in pursuing my goals?
Do I mind following rules and regulations as to how I can sell and where? (some companies have very strict policies on this)
Do I have enough social contacts to begin this business?
Have you tried the products? Do you believe in them? It is really hard to sell something you think is garbage.
About the Company
Do they require you to purchase a startup kit?
Do they offer training of any sort?
Is the person referring you earning money by doing so? Could this be their only motivation in being positive about the company?
Is there a monthly minimum order to maintain your active account status?
Are the products easy to sell? Some products are just too specialized.
Do they offer help for their downlines?
