Paint Whimsical Children´s Furniture

Are you creative, but find that your art isn´t selling? Then why not put it on something besides canvas? Children´s furniture is the perfect medium because you can be as wild or delicate as you like and there is bound to be a child out there who will like your furniture.

In order to make a business like this work, you need a supplier of plain wooden children´s furniture. If you can´t make this yourself, it is vital that you find someone who will give you a wholesale price. Otherwise, it can be very difficult to turn a profit.

Painting furniture can be time consuming. You need to sand the wood, if the furniture doesn´t come presanded, paint it with a primer and then draw your design on and paint it in with child-safe paints. It is important to use paints that won´t leach chemicals when a child bites or sucks on the chair or table. A final coat of child-safe varnish is necessary to make the paint durable and easy to clean.

Children´s furniture can be sold to local toy stores, online on Ebay or craft sites, and at craft fairs. With Christmas coming up, this could be the perfect time to turn out some cute little table and chair sets.

  1. I found a great whimsical painting for my son’s room from Jay Schwartz Art. http://www.jayschwartzart.com/
They have prints and original paintings with barnyard and animal themes.
