Motivational Monday: 5 Tips On Being Positive

Good things happen when you stay positive even in the face of crisis. Some people chalk it up to good energy or attracting what the Universe has to offer, but even if you don`t believe in all that, the simple fact remains, people who have a positive outlook on life are happier. So, if you`re like me and tend to dwell on the dark side of things, how can you boost your hidden optimist? Here are a few tips.

1. Write your blessings. Taking the time to sit down each evening and write 3 good things that have happened today will help you see the positive even in horrible days. This is a lesson I learned when I realized that my daily journal was taking a turn for the worse . . . focusing on 3 positives each day made me realize it wasn`t all bad!

2. Do something you enjoy. It`s easy to be grumpy and snippy when you feel you spend your days working, cleaning up after kids and basically doing stuff for everyone else. Take some time on a regular basis to just do what YOU want. That can be a nice leisurely walk (no kids allowed!), a sinfully calorific cup of hot chocolate, or reading a good book.

3. “This too shall pass.” It`s cliche, but man, does it work! The next time your toddler throws his food on the floor and you are ready to throttle him, just remember that this too shall pass and soon he`ll be cleaning up after his own toddlers!

4. Spend time with positive people. Optimism tends to rub off, so choose your friends wisely. Don`t hang out with that other mom at the mother`s group who is always complaining about how hard life is with two kids . . . join the one who is laughing about the latest disaster her child has made.

5. Listen to music. When you have to do something you really don`t enjoy, like washing dishes, don`t stew about it as you work . . . put on some good upbeat music and bop to it as you go. This is a great way to get things done in a happy manner and will also boost your mood.

  1. Just copied and printed out your tips. Thanks for making my Monday a little better.

  2. I definitely agree with 4.

Not only are positive people important, but if you want to succeed at something, it really helps to associate with other people with similar goals. It’s really hard to lose weight, for instance, when you hang out with friends who are junk food addicts, but if you associate with health conscious people who hit the gym regularly, you too will be inspired to work toward that ends.

  3. Cool tips and thanks for this post. this make me think that make money more easy than I think before, I have learn a lot from a top forum about the this topic and I still learn till today.
