Learn to Write Sales Copy That Sells

How good are you at writing sales copy? I personally find myself having difficulties writing great copy, even though I´m a professional freelance writer. It´s hard to do. While you could go ahead and hire someone to write up your ads and flyers or to do your website copy, most work at home moms just don´t have the cash to do so when they are first starting out. And let´s face it, that´s when you need to make sales the most!

So, what´s a mom to do? Start reading other people´s sales letters. Don´t toss that junk mail that piles up in your mailbox every day, sit down and read through it. There´s a lot you can learn right there.

No, junk mail? Lucky you! Then you can hit the internet, there is an abundance of sales letters just waiting for your perusal. Just this morning I read one on colon cleansing (don´t ask, I clicked on an ad from a Jensen Ackles website) and although I probably don´t need it, I was pretty much ready to plunk down my hundred plus dollars to get the kit! The sales copy was GOOD.

There are plenty more examples on the internet and I know that I personally need to start paying more attention to the selling techniques found in these pages. All you need to do is click on an ad (and those are just everywhere!) and read through the sales page you find. If you find yourself pulling out your credit card by the end, stop and go through it again. What made you want to buy? Was it the amazing results in the testimonials? The scientific studies behind the product? Examine the different elements of the copy and write down the points you feel were most impactful for you. Do this with a few different sales pages and you should start to get a feel for what you want for your own sales copy.

Here are a couple of sales pages to get you started:

EcoLips Organic lip balm.

Blessed Herbs (warning, some nasty photos on this page, you can turn them off at the very top if you don´t want to look at people´s bowel movements, and yes, it still sells!)
