Social media is about forming relationships. As you do that, people will check you out. As an experiment, I sent the URL for my account under Twitter to my "fan page" on Facebook and my Fan count went Zoom! I've had other clients insist on setting that to a landing page and see zero results. It's just like Dale Carnegie says "make friends first." You hit the nail on the head.
