How Bad is the Recession?
I’m very curious as to how other work at home moms out there are faring in this economic climate. For myself, work has taken off and I’m busier than ever . . . hence the lack of posting on this blog lately. Earning more in a time of recession might seem weird, but I think it may be because more and more companies are turning to freelancers instead of in-house employees to get the job done.
What do you think? Is the recession hurting or helping your business?
Also, since I’m totally swamped right now with writing, I’m interested in taking on a couple of guest posts. If you are a work at home mom with a story to tell or have some advice to share, email me your story idea at athomemomblog AT gmail.com and I’ll get back to you.

The recession, yikes. The little guys work there butt off and in a flash its time to start all over again. I work at home helping my husbands business. I love to stay at home, my kids are older but there is still plenty to do. I hope all gets better soon
My baby was born on the last day of work (I’m a teacher) 7 weeks ago, so I’m lucky to have time off to stay home with him. Work starts up again in October, but I’ll just be doing part time. I’d love to work at home, I totally envy you. I would have no idea where to start…. I actually started my own blog out of boredom.
I’m in a similar situation as you. My work has really begun to take off the last few months although I’d like to be able to find a way to help out some of my friends who have lost their job recently
When i am not working on line, I buy and sell gift items. The global meltdown has slowed down business considerably. But we are hoping for better days ahead.
The recession seems to be hitting retail and finance pretty hard. Some people are still very busy, there is business out there but you have to jump through hoops to get it so I’m trying to pull some new ventures together (fingers crossed!)
p.s. if you know of anyone looking for a freelancer..
Yes, mortgage, I agree with you, there are businesses booming as we speak regardless of the meltdown.
Retail is shocking and so is finance. Advertising has been hit and big budgets cut so if you are in or if you supply these then it could be a problem.
I guess being in online you are somewhat sheltered in a growth industry so right now its a good place to be.
I stopped working and went back to school. I’m lucky I have the help of a good husband. I was looking into working from home but it seems hard no matter what right now.
