Hide the Toys for More Productive Work Hours
The holidays are over and your kids probably have heaps of new and exciting toys to play with. The problem with shiny new things is that they don´t stay new and exciting for long! Pretty soon, your kids will be back in the office, pushing at your mouse and whining that they are bored . . . again.
So, to prevent this annual problem, why not try this solution? Put away all their old toys. Pack them up in boxes, bags, whatever. Try to keep them in two or three different containers and put them in the attic, basement or garage where your kids won´t find them easily.
They can play with their new toys for a month or so and when the novelty wears off, pack those up, too and take out one (and ONLY ONE) of the other toy bags. Rotating the toys like this means they are always fresh and new and your kids will tend to play for longer periods of time, letting you get a bit of work done.
Now, for little kids, this can be done with just two toy bags, they tend not to notice, but older children will need to have four or five so that four or five months go by before they see their old toys again, at the rate of one bag a month. You might want to label them to keep everything straight!
