Get More Done with Less Energy
Do you find yourself reaching the end of your day completely exhausted and without finishing your to do list? I´m sure every mom has this problem, and moms who are working at home are no exception. While looking for ways to improve my efficiency, I came across this great post by Effective Meetings.
While a lot of the usual efficiency tips are covered, there was one idea that stood out to me, which was switching between right and left brain activities as you go about your daily tasks. I´d never thought of that, but it does make sense, doesn´t it?
According to Effective Meetings, right brain activities are imaginative, rythmic, visual and perceptive, among other things. Left brain activities would include anything that is logical, numerical or verbal. So, for exampe, if you have to plan your budget, design a business logo, and work on a new product idea in one day, you would be better off doing the budget planning between the other two activities to make more efficient use of your time.
Switching between left and right brain, hard and easy tasks, or long and short ones, is a great technique to keep yourself moving. Many people find it difficult to focus on just one task for a long period of time, although there are people who do that very well.
What do you think? Could switching sides of your brain make you more efficient?
