It´s a brand new year and what are you going to do with it? In 2008, plenty of working moms are going to become work at home moms and I really hope to help those of you striving for this. Going from working outside the house to working at home is a major commitment, but one that is very worth the effort. That´s why I´m starting this new series that will appear every Saturday, with a detailed step towards starting your own home business.

To start things off, I´ve compiled a checklist to help you make the leap. Some of you will already be halfway down the list, others may be just beginning to think about working at home. That´s fine. This is just to give you an idea of what you will need to do in order to successfully start your own home business. Then, each Saturday for the next five months, I will post a more detailed article on each step.

Work at Home Mom Checklist

1. Choose a home business idea.
2. Develop your home business idea.
3. Write a business plan.
4. Test the market.
5. Create a budget.
6. Save money, you´ll want to have at least 3 months covered.
7. Get funding.
8. Set up a home business space.
9. Figure out childcare.
10. Buy materials/products.
11. Create product.
12. Start a publicity campaign.
13. Get your products into stores.
14. Joint venture with someone.
15. Get a system going.
16. Start outsourcing, either at home or at work.
17. Set up a website for your business.
18. Quit your job.
19. Really throw yourself into your home business.
20. Grow your home business.

Are you ready? This is your chance to do it, make that big move from working outside the home to being a true, work at home mom.
