Finding Inspiration to Keep Moving

Sometimes it takes more than simply willpower to keep on at something that doesn´t show instant results. Since most home businesses can take a while to really get off the ground, it is easy to lose your inspiration and want to give up.

This is when it is good to have something to inspire you. I´m not talking about just an idea, but a tangible thing. Something, a song, a photo or an object that makes you tingle with anticipation and want to get things done. Do you have an inspiration like that?

Many people have a vision. Maybe you want to own a nicer house or a bigger car or send your kids to a better school. That is nice and it can certainly serve as motivation, but sometimes it is hard to dredge up that vision when you need it most. Having something real in front of you offers the opportunity to use it whenever you find yourself lacking inspiration.

For example, I´m a huge fan of the show Supernatural. In the season finale of this year, one of the main characters dies and the absolute last episode opens with the song “Carry On My Wayward Son” by Kansas, and a montage of all the things these two brothers survived through. It is very sad, but for some reason, that song really inspires me. Just listening to it makes me want to be more productive! (Ok, I´m weird, but if it works. . . !)

Whenever I find myself fading or wanting to give up, I play that song on my tinny desktop speakers and find the inspiration to continue on.

So, what is your inspiration? If you don´t have a tangible way to get yourself going, it might be time to think about finding something.
