Do You Want to Become a Freelance Writer?

I`ve been getting a lot of emails from women who want to know how I do what I do . . . earning a living by writing online. I usually try to respond to the questions in the emails, but the truth is, there`s just too much information that you need if you`re really going to make it work, too much to cram into one email. Not to mention, I can rattle off a lot of information, but making it work for you can be difficult as you struggle to learn it all at once.

With that in mind and keeping with the new “how to” focus of At Home Mom, I`ve decided to set up a course on how to become a freelance writer. The course will focus on online writing since this is easier to break into than print writing. I`m still working on the details, but here`s what I have in mind so far:

  • Weekly lessons so you have lots of time to implement what you learn in each one, even if you have a full-time job
  • Homework which I will personally be reviewing
  • Honest feedback and answers to your questions (unlimited access to me via email)
  • 1 hour with me on Skype, which can be broken into smaller segments as needed, so you can get personal one on one time
  • Limited enrollment. The beta class will have just 5 spaces. I think after that, I`ll increase to 12 or so . . . we`ll see once I`ve seen how much time I need per student.
  • Class forum, a place for students to hang out together and discuss writing, homework, etc. This would be lifetime membership, so you could continue interacting with each other and new students, asking questions, etc.
  • The lessons would also be compiled into an ebook, available to students at the end of the beta course. I`ll probably make this ebook available to buy on its own in the future, but without all the perks of the actual class.

I`d love to know how many of you are interested in a beta class . . . just interested, not committing to anything. I am still working on the entire idea and it won`t be ready for at least 2-4 weeks, at which time those who have signed up for information will have first dibs on those five spots.

Advantages of the beta version include a much lower price (not sure what it is yet, but I`ll be drastically increasing once the bugs are worked out), extra time with me on chat if needed, and the chance to let me know what the course is missing. In other words, the first five people to take the course will be able to help tailor it to fit their needs.

If that sounds interesting, sign up for updates below . . . you`ll be the first to hear about the launching of the beta course (at least 48 hours before anyone else in the world!). Don`t worry, you`ll have first dibs, but I`m not going to force you to buy anything just because you said you were interested. ;)
