Creating a Mobile Office

There are times when it just isn´t practical to be confined to a corner desk. For example, if your kids are into soccer and you go along to the games and practices, or if you just want to get outside while your toddler plays in a wading pool, you could benefit from having a mobile office.

A mobile office doesnt necessarily need to be your regular office. In fact, its good to have a desk where you can file things and keep your information organized, in addition to having a portable office. A desktop computer tends to be more stable than a laptop and can also be useful for kids doing homework when you are working on your laptop.

A mobile office should be able to be contained in one bag or container. If you rely on your computer and internet access, you will need a laptop and the laptop carrier for this can also serve as your office. However, if you arent in desperate need of a computer when you are away from home, a briefcase or even a Tupperware box with a handle in the lid can work.

Paperwork should be contained in plastic folders. I say plastic because if you are a mom, accidents happen and you want your important papers to stay safe from spilled Pepsi or dripping bottles! Not to mention the occasional rain shower if you are outside a lot of the time!

Make sure you have extra pens and pencils. If your office carrier doesn’t have a special space for these things, you can buy a pencil case like the ones kids have to take to school. These are perfect for storing all your writing essentials. Alternatively, small Ziploc bags work. They can be used to hold handfuls of paper clips, Post-It Notes, and more, all safely waterproofed.

Depending on your business, you will want several specialized items as well. For example, you might want a calculator and extra batteries (unless you are using a laptop), notepads, etc. You know best what will be useful for you.

Other items that can be useful in a mobile office include a cell phone, a mini-address book for keeping track of numbers and addresses, business cards, product samples or even a catalog of your products, as well as a price list. If you have any other essentials that should be included here, feel free to add a comment. This blog has a do-follow plug-in, so your comments will be rewarded with a link back to your site!
