I have to admit that I haven’t been very good about carrying out my BUM Marketing strategies. Although I did pick out a product from Clickbank that pays out at 75%, the articles have been rather slow in coming. (I’m blaming it on the pregnancy destroying my brain!)
Travis’s original information and video on this technique really pushed using US Free Ads, but when I tried to sign up, my PayPal account wanted a credit card, which I don’t have. After numerous attempts to find a virtual Visa card (which has to be available here in Guatemala), I finally gave up and left the whole idea for a few days. Then I came across a nifty little ebook called Ultimate Bum Marketing Super Affiliate Guide. Now, I NEVER pay for ebooks, there are just so many free giveaway events where I download zillions of books that I never get around to reading, so I have never seen the point in actually bothering to pay for one. But this one was just $7 and it looked like it had the information that I needed in it.
I was looking for a way to earn through BUM Marketing, without having to use ads. But I didn’t really get how to do it with free articles, so I decided to invest my $7 and see if I could figure this thing out. Ultimate Bum Marketing Super Affiliate Guide
turned out to be just what I was looking for! I’m actually impressed. For my first paid ebook, it had a lot of information. Some of the stuff was repeated, but I got my money’s worth because I finally understood how to make this whole thing work with just articles.
Inspired, I spent the whole night researching keywords and wrote about 8 articles. Once they were submitted, I got sidetracked and started writing more for Constant Content and doing other stuff, and kind of neglected the whole BUM Marketing thing. Especially when I saw that my articles were still pending in EzineArticles after several days. Finally, this morning, I decided to do a little check on Google and SURPRISE! All of my articles are in the top ten results for their keywords! Most of them are 2nd or 3rd!
Ok, so I haven’t earned any money yet from these, but just the fact that they are actually appearing on Google has inspired me. Imagine if I can do five articles on each keyword, I will have a 50% chance at getting clickthroughs. And I’ve noticed that my website for this niche has received quite a few visits in the past couple of days, so maybe this will work after all, if I just get my butt in gear and write.
Here are a few things that I learned so far:
1. Write really interesting first sentences, since that is what shows up on Google. Some of my articles look dull in the first sentence, even I wouldn’t click on them!
2. Write consistently. If I had been writing 8-10 articles a day, I would have saturated the market by now and probably would have made at least one sale.
3. Sometimes it pays to invest a bit of money to learn how to do things right the first time.
Well, that’s the update for now. I’m inspired to write more (I’ve already done another 3 BUM articles this morning) and start being more consistent in this area. It’s necessary if I’m going to make that $100 Challenge! I’ll let you know how it’s going in a few weeks.
