Blogging Jobs for Moms
If you`re a mom looking to make a little extra money, blogging could be the perfect thing for you. I`m not talking about starting your own blog, though that can also earn money, but actually writing someone else`s blog for them in exchange for cash.
There are basically two types of blogging jobs. For moms, who don`t mind not getting credit for their writing, ghostwriting a blog is a good option. However, if you want credit, then look for a blog that lets you have a byline.
Ghostwriting: This is where you essentially write the blog as if you were the owner. Their name goes on it and as far as everyone else is concerned, the owner of the blog did all the writing and is the expert. You are the silent, behind-the-scenes writer . . . but you do get paid.
By-lines: Most blogging jobs don`t offer by-lines. If you`re holding out for this type of job, you might have to wait for a while. Also, in many cases, these jobs will pay less, since having your name on the blog is considered to be part of the pay.
There are a lot of places to find blogging jobs for moms. You can check to see if your favorite blogging networks are looking for writers, or check websites that post jobs for writers. A couple that I like include:
Freelance Writing Gigs
Online Writing Jobs
What do you do once you`ve found a blogging job you are interested in? Read the ad and respond to it, making sure you follow the instructions. Most will ask for a writing sample, but don`t worry, if you aren`t published, you can just write a short article, preferably on the topic they are looking for and send that along. All they are looking for is a good example of your writing.
Chances are, you`ll need to respond to quite a few ads before landing a job, but it`s worth it. Most of the time, blogging jobs are steady gigs, so if you get it, you`ll likely be writing for them for a long time.
Make sure you are ok with the pay. Blogging jobs for moms range from $1-$50 a blog post. I personally don`t accept anything less than $10 per post, but that`s up to you. If you get a job posting 5 times a week for $10, you`ll have $200 by the end of the month . . . not bad for a few hours of your time each week! Most blogging jobs aren`t quite that consistent, but you can have more than one blogging job. For example, I currently write one blog post every week for one client and just twice a month for another.
Blogging jobs for moms could be the perfect way to add to your income, no matter what your regular business is. If you end up writing about something you have a lot of experience in and get a byline, you could become an expert in the field and drive even more traffic to your website. Either way, it can be good way to spend your time.

This really is a good way to make some extra cash and get your name out there as a writer! It’s how I started out and landed a couple of ghostwriting jobs! Thanks for the great advice Genesis!
Good information, Genesis. I started out with the desire to be a freelance writer for magazines and journals. However, I currently have two paid blogging jobs and am looking for others. It’s a perfect fit for my life as a stay-at-home mom. I love blogging. It’s flexible and allows me to write about a number of topics that interest me.
Great stuff Genesis. Starting a blog is a great way to get noticed as a writer, every website and blog relies on the strength of it’s content and this can lead to many jobs. Try starting a writers blog and see how many webmaster ask you to guest write on their site, It really works.
