Are You Charging Enough?
Jennifer James has a very interesting post up on how much mom bloggers should be earning. I think it’s a vital topic for moms, since we are often convinced that we shouldn’t charge too much or shouldn’t raise our rates. Well, guess again, ladies!
I personally think that most moms don’t charge enough for their services. Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you should get paid less! That being said, you also have to make sure that your work is worth what you charge!

“So, in other words, no more “Can I Pick Your Brain for Free” telephone calls and emails. That’s called consulting. No more “guest blogging” on brand sites. That’s called freelancing. So, maybe we are not charging 22K like Chris Brogan for our 8 hour day, but Jennifer James makes a very good point that we are worth way more than we are invoicing.
A time will come, as home careers become more formalized, that pay rates may standardized! That would be an interesting topic to research!
So in other words, journalists and reporters who also review or write about films, beauty products, etc. should be paid for their writing? That’s not advertising, that’s PR. In my eyes, mombloggers are modern day equivalent of journalists – why should they function differently?
