Are You Being Realistic?

Planning your work schedule on paper might seem like a great idea, but it is far too easy to overbook yourself, even working at home. You might figure that you can work during those two hours that your little one sleeps in the morning, but the fact of the matter is that those 2 hours naps aren´t always two hours long!

Being realistic is difficult for work at home moms. You know what you need to get done in a day and you try to find the time, but kids and housework and life in general can get in the way!

That doesn´t mean you shouldn´t make a schedule, but you do need to factor in things that happen to you every day. Leave yourself leeway to tend to a bruised ego or a scraped knee, to deal with a day that no naps are taken or the kids are all down with the flu. The truth is that your schedule won´t work if it is cast in stone, you need to be flexible and the best way to do that is to add in a bit of extra time.

Even adding 30 minutes to your schedule each day will allow you to get a bit of extra work done on a good day and help you feel less guilty on a bad one. Being realistic, it´s the way to make things work when you work from home with kids.
