7 Quality Memory Makers
When you’re a work at home mom, you don’t get that much time to actually spend with your children. I know I feel like I am spending most of the time only half paying attention to them because of the work that is waiting for me. With that in mind, here are 7 ways to create some memories with your kids.
These are all activities that don’t take long, but they are seriously high in quality and your children will remember these for years to come.
1. Take a walk. There’s no need to go that far, but this is a good way to get outside and get some fresh air. It’s also a good way to hang out with your kids. Start when they are little and you’ll really be able to enjoy it as they get older.
2. Eat dinner together. Even when everyone is rushing to and from activities, sitting down and eating together can bond you as a family like nothing else. There’s something about breaking bread together that really helps to unify the family.
3. Play a game. Any game will do! If your kids are still little, Snakes and Ladders or Fish is fine. Older kids might like a multi-session game of risk or Monopoly. If you’re short on time, stick to UNO or another similar game that doesn’t require a lot of time.
4. Read a book. Reading together is a great activity that can be done with kids of any age, just target the book to the age and interests of the child.
5. Do a video shoot. Grab a camcorder, your phone or the digital camera and stage an interview. Let your kids interview you and then turn the tables. It’s a fun way to get to know each other better.
6. Have a picnic. It’s a lot of fun eating outside on the grass and you don’t have to go far to do it. Even your backyard or a local park down the street can be the perfect setting.
7. Watch the clouds. When was the last time you laid on your back in the yard and looked at the clouds? Why not do it with your kids and see who can find the most interesting shapes?
These are all things you can do on a regular basis, which makes them that much better. And it just might be that when your kids grow up, they’ll do the same with their children.
