5 Reasons to Start Your Own Business
There are a lot of scams out there. Everyone is offering the next great get rich quick scheme, but many moms realize these days that while it would be nice to get rich quick, it`s not very likely.
You can definitely find some good business opportunities or jobs online, but the truth is, you are probably better off starting your own business. There are a lot of reasons that running your own business is a good idea . . .
- You`re the boss. There are no minimum orders to make, no silly rules to follow, you`re in charge.
- It`s your idea. There`s something about following your own passion that makes it so much easier to work at home than when you are trying to sell something you don`t even like just to make a buck.
- The joy of success. It`s not easy running your own business, but the thrill of success is something that you can`t ever equal in a regular 9-5 job.
- Flexible hours. Ok, so this usually means working longer hours than a normal job, at least in the beginning, but at least you can work them in the middle of the night if you like!
- Do good. Did you know that women owned businesses are far more likely to participate in charity drives and to donate money or products for a good cause? That`s a great reason to start a business right there!
Not to mention, you`re setting a great example in entrepreneurship for your children.

Well, mine are: 1, 4 and 5, not necessarily in that order.
Genesis,
I’m glad to know that women entrepreneurs are more involved in charity. I suspected that was the case but didn’t know it had been demonstrated.
Lillie, I`ll have to find the actual studies, I read this a while back and there were specific percentages. Once I find the information, I`ll post it.
I’d like to see the information, Genesis. Thanks.
I started my business for a couples reasons – which include the five you listed above. I wanted to be home with my kids, and provide a reasonably priced service without sacrificing quality to people like me….limited budgets, but still wanting to get things they want – not just need! It’s furstrating when business is slow, but so worth any frustrations I may encounter.
I started my own business in order to get so much needed income after my divorce, but in addition to income, it has given me a sense of self that I had previously lost in my marriage. I would recommend that women everywhere do their research and join the world of entrepeneurs – you’ll never look back!
When I started my work at home business, at first it was for the flexibility. Now that I am seeing the success of my initial hardword, I am discovering many more benefits. To name a few, I am my own boss, I call the shots. I can choose to work full or part time and get paid accordingly. I never miss a school event nor have to call in sick. I also get to watch my pay increase on a monthly basis and get to meet so many wonderful people I wouldn’t otherwise. You are right, I’m never looking back.
I think that being a work at home Mom has so many perks and the best way to go, especially in today’s economy. I belong to a meet up group for independent business owners and it is such a joy watching their success and their confidence knowing they are making it happen. Why make the money for someone else when you can make it happen yourself?
