5 Online Work at Home “Jobs” That Aren`t Worth Your Time

If you look up ways to earn money online, you`ll find a lot of information on the topic. What I find frustrating, however is the lack of REAL information. Most websites or blogs on earning money online for moms are looking at very little in the way of real earnings. Let`s take a look at some of the so-called jobs you`ll run across and why they aren`t worth your time.

1. Paid Surveys

I see this opportunity everywhere. These sites promise amazing money, often $10-15 per survey that you take. The vast majority are actually legit, but what happens is you sign up and there are only a couple of opportunities each week or even month . . . not exactly big money. The real earnings are in the affiliate program, getting other people to sign up under you, hence the reason they are promoted like mad.

2. Read Emails

You`ve probably heard of sites like Hits4Pay where you just open emails and earn money. The reason these aren`t worth your time is A) they take a lot of time, most require the email to be open for 30-60 seconds or you`ll have to click on a link. All this and you only earn a penny or two per email. You can earn, but you`ll spend a LOT of time just to get a few bucks.

3. Posting on Paid Forums

I actually posted about this at once point, regarding MyLot. Now, to clarify, there isn`t anything wrong with using paid forums, but they certainly shouldn`t be considered a place to earn good money. The way I would consider using them is to promote my business (by offering helpful suggestions and answering questions) . . . the few cents you earn per post is then a bonus.

4. Join a Membership Job Site

I`m not going to say that all these sites offering you amazing job opportunities are bogus, but the ones that I`ve tried certainly are. The sales copy makes it sound like the site is going to pay you, but they usually just end up being lists of jobs from around the internet, which you could have easily found yourself.

5. Sign Up for Free Offers and Get Cash Back

There are SO many sites out there that are doing this. Basically, they offer you anywhere from a few cents to $15-20 to go sign up for a free offer that is listed on their site. This is actually a really simple deal. The site is an affiliate for the offers they have up and they get paid per lead or action. So if you go sign up for a free mortgage quote, they might get $15 and pay you $10. Imagine thousands of people doing that in a day! So, why is this a waste of time if it sounds so legit? First of all, it takes a lot of offers to get enough money to cash out, most sites require $50 min. before you can get paid. Secondly, the majority of the offers will require a credit card. The offer is free, but the fine print says if you don`t cancel by a specific date, you`ll be charged on a monthly basis . . . and often there is no way to cancel.

My position has always been that it`s a far better idea to start your own business if you want to earn real money. It might take longer, but you won`t be scammed and you can build something that really has no limits!

  3. You really need to find a good training program if you expect to make money online. You need to learn how and what to market but it very well can be done.

  4. To the comment above about Poker, the gimmick is that they will give you a lot of money in your account, but you have to turn that money over at least 5 times, which by that time, you have already lost it and then some. Not advisable!

  5. Here is an old rule! If you want to be really successful in affiliate marketing, you ought to drive traffic to your website. The more visitors to the website, the higher the probability of click through. Many affiliate guides forget to mention that it is always prudent to build traffic first and then consider affiliate marketing. There is no magic potion. If there is no traffic, there are no profits. Don’t worry, if you haven’t got hordes of visitors, even a few visitors will do initially. Once these visitors start trickling down the web drain, you can place banners and advertising in appropriate places to get the results. A good affiliate marketer doesn’t care about the number of clicks but on the average number of clicks per visitor.
