3 Ways to Meet a Deadline
It can be stressful trying to meet a deadline when you have issues that need to be resolved in your home. For example, if you have a sick child, it can be very difficult to meet a deadline. Here are three ways to make it.
1. Don’t procrastinate. Avoid leaving things to the last minute. If things go wrong, you won’t be scrambling to get everything done. By finishing up as soon as possible, you not only eliminate the possibility of getting caught short, but you also give yourself more free time to play with the kids or get some other projects going.
2. Work ahead. If you have a business that allows it, try to stockpile a bit of work for those emergency days. For example, if you make handmade soaps to sell, try to have a batch done up in reserve. When a child gets sick or something else happens to prevent you from working, you still have product to ship out.
3. Ask for help. Can your husband look after getting the dog to the vet while you finish up your work? Or can you hire a babysitter to keep the kids out of your hair on an unexpected snow day? Getting someone else to help you out might not feel good, but there are times when it is the only option if you want to make that deadline.
While it isn’t always possible to meet your deadlines when life gets in the way, you can certainly aid things by planning ahead. If you have a backup plan for when things go wrong, you won’t be caught unprepared. The worst that can happen is you will have to renegotiate your deadline.
